Cinarcik is one of the magnificient coastal towns of Yalova. It is 17 km away from the city center. The town extends to the east and west on the coastal line. Cinarcik gained the status of small town in 1972 and then the status of a town after Yalova's status of city in 1995. Today Cinarcik has four small towns and three villages connected to it. The history of Cinarcik dates bact to ancient times. It is possible to see the ruins of Byzantium and Ottoman periods around Karpuzdere, Kanlicinar and Ucpinarlar. There remain the ruins of Ottoman water vaults, baths and water storage. The name of the town comes from dense forests it once had. In one of his visits, Fevzi Qakmak the Field Marshal mourned about its name and was quoted as saying "it would be more appropriate if the name Kocagnar instead of Cinarcik was used".
