In addition to its calmness and silence, Yalova is also quite well known by its vicinity to important centres. It is located between 39-40 northern latitude and 28-31 eastern longitudes. The city of Yalova is basically located within the geographical region called Marmara. The Sea of Marmara comprises the whole northern border of the city. The city has been located at the start of the Gulf of izmit and on the outskirts of Mount Samanli. Yalova borders with Orhangazi and Gemlik towns of the city of Bursa in the south and with Karamursel town of the city of izmit in the east. The town of Armutlu, which is located in the west side of the city, stretches as far as the Sea of Marmara as the cape of Bozburun peninsula. Yalova with its 83.900 square meter measure accommodates six different towns (inclusive of its central town), which further accommodates nine small towns and forty-three villages.
